Mei Nakatsugawa (中津川 名, Nakatsugawa Mei) is a first-year high school student. She only appears beginning in the manga as of Volume 13 and first about 9.5 min into Chikuwa, Trains, Chiaki's Solo Camping (Season 3, Episode 10) in Season 3 of the anime.

She has shoulder-length, straight, green hair and wears a bow in her hair.

edit source to right of the section title.Mei meets Ema Mizunami in Fujikawa Park during cherry blossom viewing season. Ema had just met Ena Saitō and Chikuwa who left just before Mei arrived.[1]
In the manga,[2] Aoi helps Mei after she gets a flat tire riding to school before club recruitment day.
During the club recruiting season at the beginning of the school year, she wanders among the recruiters with Ema. Ena is also there among the recruiters and notices them.
Later since her bike has a flat tire, she rents a road bike from a roadside station.[3]

- In Chapter 78, Mei is revealed to be the owner of Hanpen,[2] the white dog that was imagined "retroactively" camping with Chiaki Ōgaki, Aoi Inuyama and Ena Saitō in Volume 12 and also in its adaptation in True or Embellished? Retrospective Camping (Season 3, Episode 7). Hanpen also appears briefly in the following episode as well.
- In Chapter 86, Mei's mother is revealed to be working as Aoi's superior at the Zebra supermarket. This suggests that Mei's mother had a cameo in anime episode Meat and Fall Colors and the Mystery Lake (Season 1, Episode 6).
