8 Shimobe Onsen

Shimozumi Bridge in front of Shimobe Spa

The Shimobe Hot Spring Town (下部温泉街, Onsen machi) is an area in the city of Minobu where a number of inns, restaurants, and souvenir stores are located to cater to visitors of the hot spring found there. The location was featured in Lies Spread 'Round the World (Heya CampΔ, Episode 8).

The Shimobe hot spring has been used as a resort area since the Edo period. It is designated as a National Health Resort. The local legend is that it was a hot spring used by daimyo Takeda Shingen.

In Episode 8 of Heya CampΔ, the girls collect the stamp for the Yamanashi Kids’ Stamp Rally at Shimozumi Bridge (下部温泉 神泉橋) in front of Shimobe Spa (下部温泉峡) over the Kabu River. Afterward, they visit The Shimobe Golden Foot Bath. It may be so named because of the history of gold mining in the area, which is exhibited in the nearby Kaiogonmura Yunookukinzan Museum.[1] After the footbath, the girls visit Umetsuki confectionery shop (和菓子処ニュー梅月 Wagashi sho nyū baigetsu) for kakushi monaka.
